NASCAR is back at Daytona International Speedway for the 65th edition of the Daytona 500 on February 19th, with a busy Speedweeks starting on February 15th. The 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season truly begins when teams and drivers gear up for the prestigious Daytona 500.
With two NextGen car races under their belts and in the record books, everyone should have a better reference for how to set up their cars and what to expect during Speedweeks. Austin Cindric aims to defend his trophy after winning the Great American Race in his rookie year, but it won’t be an easy feat. Only Denny Hamlin has been able to win the Daytona 500 consecutively since 1995.
Every driver wants to win the Harley J. Earl Trophy at least once in their lifetime. This is the most prestigious race, but it is also wide open. There have been some unexpected winning surprises. Strategy and talent play a big role, but to be successful in this race, you also need a bit of luck.
On-track activities begin on February 15th when two drivers will lock in the front row starting positions. The race hasn’t been won from the pole since 2000, but that’s what every driver is after. The Duel Races will follow the next day to finalize the starting grid for the 65th Daytona 500.
